Fieldstone is defined as “a stone occurring naturally in fields, often used as a building material”. It is typically used on projects where a more natural or weathered look is desired. Fieldstone is available in several variations including thick wallstone, thin veneer, steppers, boulders, and slabs.
Thick Fieldstone covers an average of 35 to 40 square feet per ton when laid flat (mosaic style). Expect a waste factor of 35% to 40% when laid on edge (drystack). Recommended footing width is 10” for Thick Fieldstone (measuring from the face of the unfinished wall).
Thin Fieldstone covers approximately 100 to 110 square feet per ton when laid flat (mosaic style) and approximately 20 to 25 square feet per ton when laid on edge (drystack). Recommended footing widths are 4” for mosaic applications and 10” for drystack and semi-stack applications (measuring from the face of the unfinished wall).
